When the former director of the Pentagon’s UFO program Luis Elizondo spoke of a “fundamental change” that occurred 70,000 years ago in Homo sapiens allowing us to rise to the top of the food chain, along with his use phrases such as “mankinds” and “somber,” it raised questions in my mind about what might have transpired in our species’ past that left us as the sole surviving hominids on Earth.

It also made me wonder what life might have been like for our ancestors and the nature of the interactions between Homo sapiens and other hominin species around that time.
